Peter Marston & Susan Hirsh

Peter Marston

Design director, Peter Marston contributed to the development of the contemporary conservatory, re-inventing the glass buildings of the 18th and 19th century by combining innovative designs derived from this period with up-to-date technology and construction.

He is passionate about gardening and garden design, and loves architecture and interior design. He has designed numerous buildings, gardens and furniture and given talks and written widely on these subjects. He is the author of the definitive The Conservatory Book and Garden Room Style and has also published a number of articles on the history of glass buildings and architecture, garden rooms, interior design and gardening.

With classic art school training and experience as a furniture designer, Peter's three-dimensional expertise is perfectly matched by the skills of his wife Susan Hirsh, who joined the company in 1998. As the buyer and 'guardian' of the Marston & Langinger style, Susan draws on her extensive experience as a textile designer and fashion forecaster.
